A Sisterhood of Business and Professional Women

About LKM

Message from the Grand Basileus

"From tiny acorns mighty oaks grow…"

Lambda Kappa Mu welcomes you to our domain.  In 1937, an acorn seed was planted that has evolved into the tree that we know as Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority.  The service that is given through the various activities and events of our sister chapters is a testament to who we are and what we are about.

As we celebrate 75 years of sisterhood, achievement, scholarship and service in 2012, there is much to do.  Our New National Theme is "Empowerment: Women Striving to Improve Society."

We endeavor to expound upon the vision of our founder, Florence K. Williamson Norman.  As women of purpose, we give of ourselves, as we aim to serve our communities and those with whom we interact. Our goal is to see that the world in which we live will be a better place due to the efforts of LKM members.

The basic tenets of our organization:

SISTERHOOD
ACHIEVEMENT
SERVICE
SCHOLARSHIP

Are key to all that we do!

We have inherited the seeds that were planted by the founding members and it is now our responsibility to nurture and develop their dreams, while expanding them into our future.

The Certificate of Incorporation states that the name LAMBDA KAPPA MU “means love and work.”  The needs in that day and time are not necessarily the same today, but it is crucial that we continue to “encourage the maintenance of higher standards of efficiency among business and professional women.”  In every thing that we do, we represent those women.
